Ross Island

The Place You Must Visit

Ross Island

Ross Island Andaman is a lovely destination in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This is a great spot to visit if you want to explore the day’s historical significance. Ross Island was the British colony’s headquarters, and it now retains the remnants of structures constructed during the British era.

With their wild branches, roots, and trunks, the Island’s century-old trees have caught a few key monuments, such as the Officers Quarters and dilapidated Church from British times. Ross Island’s must-see sights are the Chief Commissioner’s House, the Church, and the Britisher’s Cemetery.

A road leads up to the Island’s northern edge, where the cement (10 m) high circular lighthouse was built in 1977 on an offshoot rock approximately 50 meters (160 ft) from the coastline. During low tide, the tower is accessible. Photovoltaic panels were used for the first time in India at this lighthouse to charge the batteries that powered the lights.
